Intel Shows Off Personal Server

This could be very useful, to carry you own personal server and run all your applications from any other PC that is available.

Oh, and it uses a Linux OS.

The way they seem to intend it is for other mobile devices to access data, not an application server. At best I think it might be able to connect via wireless to a computer network, but you wouldn't want to try running a virtual desktop type server from it I bet, so it'd mainly be a small data storage device.

The small complete PC packages might be more useful. Just plug in a monitor, keyboard and mouse to a computer the size of a Walkman.

Yeah, something like that. 🙂 Though you can go even smaller without the LCD, but it does remove the need for a monitor. Get a roll-up keyboard and a thumb-mouse and you've got a nice little portable device.
