Personal phone getting calls from all across the USA

My wife was using a craigslist mobile app to list some items on Craigslist and she didn't mask her phone number. She started getting phone calls from people using google voice as a go between and they are asking her if she is interested in something they have posted on craigslist.

For example, yesterday she received 12 calls from people. The phone rings, it gives a quick google voice blurb, and then the person on the other end says "Hey, yes, I still have the puppies, what did you want to know about them?" It can be anything though, some dishes, animals, whatever. I asked one of the people who called how they got this number and they said they were texted the number to call.

So frustrating. How can we stop this? Obviously she's removed the ads, but we cannot change her phone number. Wonder if there's a way to stop all google voice numbers from dialing her number? Just throwing out ideas, but we received calls up until 11 pm last night and these people are just confused as we are about it. The phone rings all hours of the day... Hoping it just runs it's course, but its damn annoying and I don't know how to track it down unless I am able to intercept the calls and try to get more info like what number were they texted from, etc.

I have no help for you but that's just about the dumbest practical joke I can think of. Doesn't sound "scammy" just annoying, for everyone.

you say you "cant" change the number on her phone, but it sounds like it is your only choice.

Yeah, we can't. It's tied to so many things anymore, changing the number is not an option. Hoping it runs it's course because it sucks.

If this is a landline you could setup an ITX or netbook computer with a caller-id capable dial-up modem and use the program Phone Tray to block the common denominator of the phone number, like the location in the CID. I use this and Nomorobo which is like having a double firewall for your phone.
