I am looking forward to buying COWON A2 30GB. I would like get some opinion of owners.

These are 2 questions i have for the A2
1st question: Is it possible to put VLC media player into the cowon? VLC supports all file formats (for ex, og3) and can even change subtitles / sounds.

2nd question: When trasnfering digi camera stuff to the cowon, is it USB 2.0? Can i use a card reader or does it have to be directly from the Digi cam?

Also, Archos 604 WiFi

The Cowon A2 gets mixed reviews - but it has a USB port, and can offload stills and videos from an active USB source. If the reader/writer device is powered, I would say there should be no problem. Digital cameras, still and video, both have their own power source, so the question is, does the A2's USB port carry the 5 vdc needed by a reader. It is USB 2.0 however.

A2

I have the Creative Zen Vision (30 GB), but it has a Compact Flash port that lets me off load from my camera directly by inserting the C/F card.

The A2 will connect to your computer via USB, and youcan load stuff that way.

I don't think you can change the software in the A2.

I am an Ipod whore so I would suggest an Ipod, but the Creatives are nice, also the Microsoft one does not look to shabby, if you want one to play videos archos is nice

Corkyg, my friend has one and he saids when he tried it with his digi cam, he said that the digi came transfer to at usb 1.1 speed for some reason.

I would say that your friend's digicam port was USB 1.1. I'm pretty sure that the A2 can handle USB 2.0. The net result is always the slower of the two devices.
