Was looking at the WD MyBook Live which looks great in theory. I like the idea of remotely accessing files, mainly for kids movies when we travel somewhere.

Has anyone had good success with this, or another personal cloud hard drive? I would rather keep my files locally rather than use a cloud service. Also, file sizes are limited by online cloud services unless you pay an arm and a leg.

Never tried it, but keep in mind that your experience is dependent upon a lot of things like your home internet connection's upload speed, the remote devices data speed, the necessity to transcode incompatible media files, ISP restrictions, etc.

i have it, good for personal cloud since it suppots android ios or windows, with lte connection i can stream 720p without issue

but the drive never sleeps, when u turn the remote access or personal cloud on, and it constantly loads files somehow that makes annoying noise, so put it somewhere far away from u is better
