Sorry for the profane thread title, but this is starting to get ridiculous. As if "EAT SHIT, FUCK OFF AND DIE, TRAITOR!" isn't bad enough, Harvey goes far beyond that uncalled for personal attack by baiting a forum member into meeting up then threating to shoot him.

Hmm... Harvey telling people to eat shit, telling them to fuck off and die, calling them assholes, offering to kill other members and then moderating the thread himself.

Seems to be business as usual, whats the issue?

I rarely post in P&N, but browse once or twice a day. I don't think I've ever posted in PFI, either, but when I saw that thread yesterday I couldn't believe it. Harvey was WAY out of line with the multiple name calling and telling people to 'fuck off and die'. Way over the top for a regular forumer let alone a moderator. And then for him to moderate the thread himself is ridiculous. Is anything being done? Something needs to happen. That type of behavior isn't typically tolerated and moderators should be held to a higher standard.

As someone will soon post, moderators aren't held to a higher standard. And thats exactly why they should vacation Harvey for his actions, if he's held to the same standard as a user, then give him the punishment a user would have gotten. Simple.

Although a normal member could not also mod/lock a thread in which they participated, which seems to be a cardinal mod rule around here.

I agree with Harvey's stance on this and appreciate the good work he's put in for years here, much of it unrecognized. This does seem like a temp ban offense though. 🙁
 
Suggesting that someone die or threatening to kill someone has always brought a ban.

And Harvey knows this because he banned me for it once even though I didn't suggest someone actually die, but was making an allegorical argument.

That quote is very tame considering what goes on in P&N. I have no issue with it whatsoever.

The people that do seem to take issue with it are the right-wingers who tend to lack the ability to see the big picture. If they could, they would see the benefits of socialism, market regulation, and progressive taxation.

Perhaps it is because all the right wingers have been banned at some time in the past, but many of the left wingers seem immune or get different treatment.

It has gotten much better since Derrik took over, but there is no doubt that there were some problems in the past.

Also, think of the MODs as judges of behavior and then realize that most judges would recuse themselves on a case if they were personally involved.

There are many examples of Harvey refusing to do that though, and this is just another one.
 
I suspect there's a whole lotta context missing from this thread. I would agree' however, that Harv Locking a Thread he posted in is likely a big faux pas.
 
There is no context missing. Harvey's insults and threats were unwarranted and uncalled for.

 
This is not an isolated incident. His actions have gone beyond the pale numerous times before. I was actually outraged that he locked the thread because I see it as nothing more than a control issue on the part of Harvey. Censorship, if you will.

For whatever reason, this EIT issue is a hot button for him. He often develops a persona that is over the top in threads regarding this issue. I'm going to temper my words when I say that I find it to be an unhealthy reaction.

I don't know what the answer is, but I do feel there needs to be a resolution on this. It's not an isolated incident and it's ongoing. If he can't stand the heat, he needs to get out of the kitchen.

i will just wiat for the normal response of "contact derek" wich 90% of the time is a waste of effort. we really need someone who is going to be here most of the time.

i go back on forth on them. from IE, googles and mozila.

i like googles. it would be nicer if i could use google bookmarks heh. they might have changed it i havent updated for a while.
