Odin, you have a long history of violating basic forum rules and being abusive to other members. You are welcome to keep whatever list you wish, and escalate whatever you wish to any authority (Anand, Derek, or whomever).
But I can tell you this: When you have a history of violations, particularly repeated violations of the same rules, you do not get treated exactly the same as everyone else. You may get a stiffer penalty than someone else who does not have such a history. If you do not think that is fair, then here's a simple solution: stop being abusive to other members. Or find another place to post. Either solution works fine for me.
We are volunteers. We absolutely do make mistakes. And we don't have time to play "catch me if you can" with members who like to push the limits and then cry foul.
The problem is that most of my "history" is utter BS. I have not been abusive. I can only recal ONE instance where I have been banned for being "abusive" and that was for calling someones post stupid. I don't know what kind of records you keep, but the mods who don't like me surely can enter whatever the hell reason they want.
Hell, most of the times I've been banned there were no reasons given, or cryptic responses of "YOU KNOW WHY!", which helps nobody.
Most of the times I've been banned were for "mod call outs" which, until recently was never really defined to me or anyone - and again never defined in any rules anywhere.
I appreciate that you are volunteers. I have moderated a large forum before so I know what it's like, and perhaps that experience is why I get upset at some of the things I see here.
Most of my problems were before a lot of the changes here, when things were a lot worse - and that's sullied my record because I'm very vocal about things which some didn't like it. If this is cause for harsher treatment, then so be it, but that will not change who I am. I will still be vocal about things I disagree with. A lot has changed since that time, and one would wonder if anything would have changed at all if everyone would have just ignored everything that went on.
The problem is that it makes it really hard to contribute here when you get banned for trivial, petty things.
I've spent a lot of time helping people on here - back when I first joined in the hardware forums, more recently in the digital camera forum, and I also have helped random people with photoshop projects.
I am not trying to stir up trouble, but it greatly upsets me when I see the different treatment that goes on, and my personality doesn't just have me sit back and ignore it. I am simply asking for more equal treatment. I don't think I should have been given a MONTH ban for calling a post stupid. Hell I don't think anyone should be banned at all for that, or even warned. It's trivial and a bit of "banter" as you guys like to call it. I didn't go after someone and really attack them personally there - if I wanted to it would be very obvious.
You guys push me, and I push back. That's just how I am. Sure it's caused me problems, but oh well. What you may fail to notice is that I have NEVER complained for the few bans which were actually deserved, vs. random petty or unexplainable things. But the minute I feel treated unfairly, I'll let you know about it and that's where we butt heads.
Hopefully this gives you a perspective of where I'm coming from.
