,.. for your bullshit.

http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2014/3/christians-persecutioncomplex.html

On March 2, three Baptist ministers in Akron, Ohio, arranged for the local police to mock-arrest them in their churches and haul them away in handcuffs for the simple act of preaching their faith. A video was posted on YouTube to drum up buzz for an upcoming revival show. A few atheist blogs object to uniformed police taking part in a church publicity stunt, but far more people who saw the YouTube video (24,082 views), in Ohio and elsewhere, took this media stunt as reality — confirmation of their wildest fears about a government clampdown on Christianity.

On Feb. 26, Arizona’s conservative Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill that would have allowed businesses to refuse services to people who violate their sincerely held religious beliefs — for example, gays and lesbians. Fox News pundit Todd Starnes tweeted that Christians have been demoted to second-class citizenship in Arizona, an opinion widely shared on the right-wing Christian blogosphere, which sees Brewer’s veto as a harbinger of even greater persecution to come.

And the feature film “Persecuted,” a political thriller about a federal government plan to censor Christianity in the name of liberalism, is due out in May. Featuring former Sen. Fred Thompson and Fox News host Gretchen Carlson, the movie received a rapturous reception at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference on March 10 and is of a piece with other Christian films such as “God’s Not Dead,” about a freshman believer bullied into proving the existence of god by an atheist professor.

I don't understand,... why all the theatrics and lies?

If you are preaching about a religion where it's core is about truth and honesty, aren't actions like this against said religion??

No one is persecuting Christians in America.

Correct, but we're so used to getting our own way for so long anything else feels like persecution. Plus there are significant financial incentives to beat the persecution drum its great way to get people to donate to groups who are pushing an agenda.

Look man, this is an alijazeera source, not some kind of subtle foreign propaganda factory cleverly guised as an unbiased source of information in order to slowly sway the stupider Americans into hating their own country.

I have no idea why you don't see the value of the "opinion" section of such a source with an article that definitely shows no bias even in the opening paragraph of:

article said:
"The most persecuted minority in the United States is not Muslims, African-Americans or immigrants. It’s our Christian supermajority that’s truly oppressed."

Clearly, the issues in this article are the most pressing matters in the world right now.

Now I understand. We need 40,000 friggin religion threads because all the important things in the world really pale in comparison.

I'll tell you that if I had this site I'd have a "complain hysterically about religion" forum though that might quickly become the dominant one :D

Considering that a Christian's goal is to become more Christ-like, I'm not at all surprised that the video has been interpreted by a significant number of believers as real. Saddened, but not surprised.

Brewer is pandering to a large voting block of both her and the GOP's constituency - not surprised.

Movies about controversial and emotionally-charged subjects - somewhat surprised. We need to have more than nameless, faceless threads and posts on a few internet forums. For the past few decades the pendulum of separation of church and state has swung to the religious side; a continuous national conversation and due diligence are what's needed to return it to equilibrium.

As to honesty and truth being core philosophies of Christianity; for the most part I think they are but on an individual and group level they are twisted into semblances of themselves, mostly to push an agenda.

The answer is in your own article:

It's just a marketing stunt.

In addition, with only 24k views I can't see how anyone thinks this is a big deal.
