perplexity in outlook XP

This certainly isn't a big problem, but for the life of me I can't figure out why it is happening...

I use Word as my default text editor in Outlook XP. Often, upon closing Outlook (or Word for that matter), I get a dialog box that reads:

"The file Normal.dot already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

I don't think I'm changing the Normal file, but no matter what I do - create a document and save it, edit any existing document, write an e-mail message - this box appears. It goes away if I choose Yes, but I kind of would like it to stop.

thanks

When you are in Word, look at Tools - Options - Save and see if you have "Prompt to save Normal template" checked. If it is, clear the check box.

i checked the option box and "Prompt to save Normal template" was not checked.

now my theory is that it's opposite day... i'll try to check and see what happens.
