I recently built the rig in my sig. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 19042.985. My problem is that I have one music folder on a HDD that contains folders and files that all have restrictions on deleting, renaming files. There's this "defender" shield next to the folder or file if I right click to delete or rename. I also cannot edit the metadata tags in this folder. All the other music folders don't have this restrictions. I've checked Windows Defender and found no folder protection. I right clicked on the music folder in question and selected properties. I see a Security tab and made sure to give everyone full permissions (there's only me). Still got the shields for all the folders and files in the particular music folder.

Any suggestions?

The icon shows UAC actions in play. Look at the settings at control panel/user accounts

I appreciate the response. There is only one user account. That's me, the administrator. My issue is that I have this only in my "Rock" folder in my music HDD. This elevated permissions is only present in the "Rock" folder. Not in "Country". Not in "Hip Hop". Not in "Jazz" etc. It's not even the "Rock" folder. Just the contents (folders, files) inside the "Rock" folder.

This is such an odd issue. I never (purposely) added any permissions. It's only affecting the contents of one folder on the drive. So, I thought to try creating a folder on the same drive and moving the data to it, since any new data written is not affected. Well, that didn't do anything. But the moving of data to a different folder on the same drive should have been very quick. Nope. It had all sorts of issues with that.

After that, I decided to try and copy the data of the affected folder to another drive. The transfer speed was atrocious. Since I was experiencing trouble with the first drive, I'm thinking that's the issue here. But nope. Opened up Crystal Disk and it says that the other drive is having sector issues.

So... I ordered three HGST enterprise drives and will just replace all of these drives. I just looked up their born on date. FEB2011. I'm happy they've survived this long. 90570 power on hours!

I noticed that those permission shields are now gone from the folders and files once copied to another drive. What a nuisance to have to ok something I want to do. I had been thinking that I've had these thrash drives for quite a long time.
