PERMENANTLY Erase Compact Flash

Fire.

Seriously, what's the big issue? Had some pr0n on your CF card and are now selling it?

You could probably kill it with write/erase cycles.

Let me clarify, erase all the data permanently but still reuse the card. Is this even possible with Compact flash? Or it is like hard drives where need to go to extreme measures to erase it?

Are there any erasing programs that support erasing compact flash?

I think overwriting the data should do it.

CF wouldn't be like a hdd where you can "see" deleted files, would it? Since it's not a magnetic media....

it isnt?

edit:

i honestly have no idea. i know active ram requires constant current, and passive ram doesnt. but i dont know what the actual storing method is.

No... It couldn't be... there are no moving parts, it's solid state.

There's software like Digital Image Recovery that does a great job of recovering from CF cards. Even formatted ones, I used it once on a card that my friend accidently formatted in the camera while trying to erase one image. It even recovered photos from several formats back.

I would recommend formatting the camera then fill it up with some random files then format it again.
