Permatex as video HSF thermal compound?

A few years back I mounted a Pentium 1 HSF to a Voodoo Banshee by using Permatex Ultra Copper RTV gasket maker as recommended by someone on a forum somewhere. I didnt know jack about cooling back then. That PC is still around (friend has it). Just curious, is that Permatex killing any heat transfer, possibly worse than the stock passive heatsink was? I was thinking of re-doing it w/ thermal grease w/ super glue in the corners.
