Periphery is a young progressive djent math metal band with some seriously talented musicians. It's like a mix of meshuggah, dream theater, bullet for my valentine, avenged sevenfold, etc. I've been told I'm a talented musician, and I really respect what these guys can do. One of the guitarists is actually John Petrucci's (dream theater guitarist) nephew.
Cool hook about Periphery is that they often play with 3 guitarists instead of 2 and a bassist. However, they all use extended range guitars, and they'll have at least two guys on 8 string guitars in drop tuning, which pushes their range into the bass. Very nice, thick, percussive guitar sounds.
They made a video for one of their songs and it's pretty ridiculous. And to think I thought 'scarlet' was about a girl...
