peripherals for laptop notetaking?

I was wondering if there's any cheap way to make a laptop function sort of like a tablet pc. Not necessarily with handwriting recognition but a penlike mouse with software that allows me to annotate documents. Thanks.

Microsoft makes a program called One Note, but there is no pen writing unless you have a Tablet PC, the screens aren't set up for this. I may suggest getting a PDA.

do you mean a separate PDA or is there a cheap PDA attachment for laptops?

I mean a seperate PDA. They can be had wireless now for under $200.00.

Logitech has a digital pen. You draw on the pads of paper that come with it, it functions as a normal ball point pen. The pen saves what you drew/wrote in digital format which you can upload to your computer.
