Hi Everyone,

thanks for helping me, my 21 inch viewsonic monitor p810 will not turn on, it's not even connected to the computer, just the plug, but as soon as push the on button on the front of the monitor, i start hearing a periodical silent clicking noise coming from the back inside the monitor, so i tried to get inside the monitor by unscrewing the screws, but I couldn't open the frieking monitor...acutally i'm glad now because i did some research after that and i could have been shocked i guess...
i think there is a problem with the power supply, yet what the hell do i do? should i take it to a tv shop? how much will it cost to replace this power supply? i called viewsonic, they told me to go to a computer store.... uhhh there is a world of difference between a computer store and somebody that knows how to fix monitors....so i don't know, i'm totally open for advice....
thanks again
:confused:

How long ago did you buy it? If it is still under warrenty I would take it back.

That clicking could very likely be a capacitor. I would call your local pc repair shop and ask for some recommendations for monitor repair if your monitors not under warranty (hopefully you did not void its warranty by opening). Unfortunately, it will probably be pricey if worth it at all. In the meantime you should definitely unplug it...

thanks for the advice...i might take it to a TV repair shop. the good news is i found this monitor by the dumpster but i live in a very rich area so i'm thinking someone just didnt want to give it the time of day. if it costs me more than a 100 dollars to get it fixed i'm putting it back right where i found it.
the retail price on the monitor is pretty high up there, it's the professional series, .25 dot pitch and everything, god i hope they won't charge me an arm and a leg;

haha, i called 7 repair services in my area as well as 3 computer shops, it looks like noone does any more monitor repair...they say it's not a very good business...it takes forever to fix and hundreds of dollars to the client. seeing that this is taking more of my time than i was planning to spend, i am unfortunately forced to throw away this beautiful 21 inch professional monitor away.
.25 dot pitch too, what a waste, i wish i had an electrical engineering degree.
