Young'ins that insist on drinking Bud Light and have idea what Old Rasputin, Belhaven, Coopers, etc are .. they should be required to check these styles off the list before going back for another batch of water+foam.

I really have never understood why people act all indignant about different beers?

Without going into the various country cultures that play into the ingestion of alcohol playing a role in it's role in their lives, "beer" in general doesn't "taste" good. People who claim they drink beer for the taste are lying. Also, a taste for something should never need to be aquired. It's either good or it isn't. A person can force themselves to eat/drink anything enough times until it is either tolerable or even enjoyable, but it shouldn't be a necessity.

As a person who's never been a fan of beer at all, and tried many many of the "better than brand A" etc, they all taste, well...spoiled. So I always find it interesting when people put down other beers as tasting "bad".

As a person who's never been a fan of beer at all, I don't think you understand them because you don't like them. That's okay of course. Think of something you do like that has lots of varieties. Let's say Cheese or Sushi, something like that with lots of variability in quality and taste/style. Now you of course will have some preferences, but blindly only eating cheddar or only california rolls forever is missing the amazing varieties and tastes out there, perhaps for a variant that is fairly bland and mediocre in quality. That's what I feel about beer. There's nothing wrong with kicking back a Bud Light, but if one likes to put a few back, and is going to be drinking for years, it pays to try a good variety to see how amazing some types are (some amazing because they're so good, some amazing because they're really not to your tastes at all).

And yes, I LOVE the taste of a good beer. Because I don't love the taste of any wine, I don't pretend to know the immense complexity and subtleties of various wines. I take it for granted that it's indeed true what wine fans feel about their personal favorites, but it's simply not for me.

Nobody should act indignant about it, it's not about being a snob or a jerk, but it's sort of like the young basketball fan who thinks that LeBron James is the best player ever, without ever seen the highlight reels of people like MJ and Wilt.

As trolly as it might have sounded...it was a serious question ;p I got no issues with beer drinkers.

But you just called many of us liars. :(

I love the taste of beer. It's an acquired taste, I can understand how someone wouldn't like it. But don't tell me I don't like it.

I think most of us can relate to beer being an acquired taste, starting out drinking 'Lite' beers like Coors Light, Miller Lite, Bud, etc... through late teens into our twenties. Hell, I was a Coors Light guy until my mid thirties. But living in San Diego, which has become a craft beer Mecca, I've grown to appreciate the many styles that are out there now. There is such a great variety, it never gets boring. If you don't like hops though (bitter) it's game over for most.
