<<i usually ask the female ones if they swallow and what are they wearing or some freaky crap like that lol.......if it's a guy i just ask em if his boyfriend is the man in the relationship or something along those lines.....they usually hang up or curse at me :D>>

LOL! Man, i gotta try that. Or you say that the occupant that you are looking for is no longer living there, and you give them Dominos Pizza's number! I love that one the most :p

Or give them a number starting with the brand new 011 or 900 area codes. ;)

One good way of getting rid of one with a good excuse is to say you have another incoming call and then HANG UP!

<< LOL Russ! My phone company called me last week, and kept pushing me to take caller id. Finally, the guy says "Look, don't you ever get those annoying telemarketing calls from pushy people that you wish you never took?" And I replied "You mean like this one?" He stuttered, apologized, and hung up rather quickly. :D >>

LOL!!

I've worked as a telemarketer :( ...for three whole days :D It only took three days and I was convinced that telemarketing is the only job available in Hell. And my boss was Satan himself.

I had to answer to three questions to get the job. "What's your name?", "what's your social security #?" and "what's your phone number?". I was in. They gave absolutely NO training. I was given a paper which briefly described the product I was selling and a huge list of phone numbers and that was it. In the three tormenting days I was there I didn't get anything sold, every freaking call was a new nightmare.

For all telemarketers sake I hope that company I worked for just sucked very very very much, or I truly feel sorry for every one of them :(

Needless to say, I try to be nice to them and politely say if I'm not interested. I don't get that many calls, so I'm not (yet) annoyed by them..

I once got a funny phone-call from a company doing customer research via phone. At that time I was still full-time student trying to live on the smallish student-aid and living in a tiny student-apartment. The conversation started like this:

Him: "Hello. We are doing a customer-research on behalf of Veho (local Mercedes-Benz dealer) and Mercedes-Benz."
Me: "O....K...."
Him: "According to our records, you bought the brand-new C-class Mercedes-Benz about a month ago"
Me: "I did?!?!? I wish someone had told me about it!"
Him: "So, you haven't bought a Mercedes?"
Me: "unfortunately no"
Him: "Well that defeats the purpose of this research then..."

He did try to carry out the survey with me, but needless to say, it went downhill pretty fast.

As much as I hate to be rude, I make an exeption with telemarketers, the only way to rid telemarketing for ever is to make it very clear how unwelcome it is. Same thing goes for junkmail, I had one asking me to support a white supremacist group (talk about unwelcome)

Anyone get those calls that when you answer you automatically put on hold? WTF, why call if your not ready to talk? I hate phone 'machines'. :|

Now if I get that kind of call I just leave the phone by my stereo for a few minutes.
