On a whim I ran software update last night and this update came up. From what I gathered, it applies to the Unibody MBPs, whether you have the first or second revision.
I upgraded the HD in my 13" MBP to a Western Digital 320 GB Black drive and noticed the hard drive clicking pretty frequently. After installing this update, I haven't noticed the clicking anymore and the laptop is considerably... wait for it... snappier!
Jokes aside, I noticed the difference right away after rebooting. Normally when I log in, OS X spends some time loading my applications and switching from space to space as they come up. After the update, this process took probably half as long and it's impossible to keep track of which space the screen is on because they change so quickly now. Once everything is loaded, the machine just feels more responsive.
Coincidentally, as soon as I updated, TUAW had an article on the update. Enjoy!
Hope this helps you Unibody owners out there!
