Ok, first the stats:
MSI K7T266 Pro-2
AXP 1600+
256MB Kingston Ram
40 GB WD HDD (Dual-boot win98/XP home SP1)
PNY Verto Geforce3 Ti200
Dlink NIC
Ok, now the problem:
When I first put this system together about a year ago, I ran in the 7200+ range in 3Dmark2001 at default benchmark w/ no o/c'ing of any sort. Sort of "out of the box" as you would say. Now, just about a year later, I revisited 3Dmark2001 and was shocked to see that I had dropped to the 6600-6800 range. Zero changes have been made to this machine. Same proc,ram,vid,drivers(same ol' 21.83 detenator drivers) etc. To rule out OS degradation, I swapped drives with one that had a fresh install of WinME on it with 40.something drivers and same thing..6800-ish. I upped FSB to 140 and upped vid core to 185(stock 175) and only gained about 100 points. I don't get it..Can these parts really wear out like this?
