Ok Gang quick question??

I have a Northwood 1.6 that runs at 145/145 or 133/166. So the question is, which is better high memory speeds or a slightly faster processor speed. Thanx in advance, Jeff

Well lets look at it....

145/145 should be like 2,320mhz and 290mhzddr with memory scores of likely 2250's

133/166 should be like 2,128mhz and 333mhz ddr with memory scores near 2500's....

1) It is really a toss up as some programs like the raw cpu power and others like memory bandwidth...It really depends on the applications you will use...

2) What voltage do you have to run to get it at 145??? and how much more is that then at 133??? maybe less would be better....

3) At 145 what does your pci run at??? If out of 33mhz spec this could also add to conflicts...though it would likely only be 36.25mhz and that is clearly in spec, but there are those few picky devices that do not like the slightest tweak out of 33mhz....

What board are you running by the way??? it sounds like an sis chipset...If it is an asus sis board ther is now a new bios with 4:5 support above 133...145 at 4:5 ratio would be 363ddr and likely memory of 2700's...There is the winner if you can get to it....

Runs at 145 with stock voltage!

At 145 AGP at 72 and PCI at 36, I've run these components on my Celly at 83 and 39 with no problems.

I've got a Gigabyte 8srx(Sis 645), it doesn't list the multipliers in the common way ie 4:5, 1:1or 3:4, it just gives you a pick list of speeds for the buses and memory. Fairly neat, but I need to do the math to figure exactly what the multipliers are. 166 seems about as fast as my no name memory will go, I think I need to upgrade to some true PC2700 to get some head room.

Thanx for the reply, the system feels snappier at 145/145 than at 133/166. Jeff
