Performance seems too low

Been lurking on these forums for a while... Figured I needed some help...

I recently upgraded my system and the performance just doesn't seem to be what I expected.

I am running the following HW:
Athlon 64 X2 4800+
MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum
Corsair CMX512-3200XL X4
EVGA 6800 Ultra AGP
120 Gig SATA HDs (nvraid 0 striped) X2
400w Generic PS
Windows XP SP2
Dual 17" Monitors (dualview mode)

All running at stock speeds and getting the following:

3DMark05 Score 3074
GT1 17fps
GT2 7.9fps
GT3 13.8fps
CPU Test1 .5fps
CPU Test2 .5fps

I know something is wrong with those #... Please help me find the problem.
 
Well your RAM should be running at 2T since there are 4 sticks. Do you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard? Maybe the dual-core isn't supported by your current one?

I suspect you did do a bios update and you are only running one of the cores.
 
I was runing the released 1.9 Bios, and upgraded to the latest ones on MSI's web site (1a) before the benchmark I posted...

Both Cores are working and show up in taskmanager

memory is running at 200mhz, 2, 2, 2, 5, 2t (dual channel)
 
Your score is definatly a bit low. Why in the world do you have all that expensive hardware running on a generic 400w PSU??!! Perhaps it isn't supplying enough power to your 6800 Ultra..Did you install all the latest chipset and video drivers?
 
I reinstalled the latest chipset driver and my scores went up, but I still don't think they are where they should be... I was and still am running 77.77 version of the Video card drivers...

After updating the chipset drivers when running 3DMark, it would look pretty smooth, then stop for a second, then play again... I disabled AGP Fast Writes in the bios and that smoothed it out so it didn't pause from time to time...

GT1 24.6fps
GT2 16.4fps
GT3 26.7
CPUtest1 2.5fps
CPUtest2 4.7fps

I will be upgrading my case and PS next, but do you really think that the PS would fix this?
 
Your score looks about right now. I got about 5400 with my 6800GT @ultra speeds with my now incapacitated P4 system.

the scores are diffenitely low, it's either bios, drivers, or the psu. I really think it's the psu because it's GENERIC!!!
 
Id say get a new PSU by a name brand immediatly. Your scores are very low, make sure you have cool and quiet off to see if that helps, also go through your bios and make sure everything is set up properly and your not running something slow

No, it wasn't the PSU..but nobody in their right mind should be powering all those expensive components with a generic PSU..I've experienced first hand the damage a generic PSU can do if it goes out, I had a 400w powmax, that took out a $180 motherboard when it went. Maybe you'll be lucky and nothing will happen, but to me it's not worth the risk, and a weak 12v rail can cause video card issues on a high end graphics card, and cause system instability. Would you buy a $50,000 car, and run it with no oil just because it's not causing you any problems at the moment?

That PSU is probably the cause.. You want 32A+ @ 12V from a quality manufacturer..
 
the whole time I have had Cool and Quiet disabled, and the AMD drivers installed... I will probably order a new PS today after reading thru the many other threads on PS's.

Once I get a new case with decent air flow and a good PS, I will replace the stock HSF and try some mild overclocking
