Performance on a budget?

I want to update my system but money is tight. So, I'm hoping to find an inexpensive motherboard/cpu combo that I can overclockup to the performance level of, say, an Intel E6600 or E6750 cpu. Would something like an E2130 cpu get the job done? Any suggestions?
Will stick with DDR2 memory for now, again because of price...
