I have a Athlon XP 1600 and a GF4 Ti4200 and they're already starting to fall a bit behind in games like Unreal 2. My question is, will buying a Radeon 9700 Pro increase my perfomance enough to justify buying it? And, will I be getting enough out of the card even with this CPU?

Depends on the game. I ran a test on UT2K3 (not Unreal2) using my 4200 and with res at 1600*1200 with a xp2100 I got 63 flyby/43 botmatch. I ran the chip up to 2800 speeds(stable btw) I got 1 fps increase.

Look at Toms Hardware. They have a good table showing different vid cards with dif games on dif cpus. Nice comparison. It still revolves around what games you will be playing.

heh, seem's everyone's way to solve their computer problems is to buy a rad9700 pro...

anyways, it most likely WOULD help in gaming, but not much because it will begin bottlenecking if you dont bring the rest of your computer up to the higher standard of the video card. what are you current computer stats?

I have the GF4 and Athlon I mentioned on a MSI 745 Ultra and 512 MB of RAM at 333Mhz. I think I´ll just wait a while with upgrading and and when I do get a high perfomance video card and a new CPU to get a bigger performance jump.
