Compared my CPU benchmarks in Sandra to the sample XP 2000+ on KT333/PC2700 and was scoring about 10% lower. Did some card swapping, bios flashing and bios tweaks with no solution. The I tried swapping my drives and cdroms, bingo! My 401240A Plextor and Western Digital 80 GB JB don't like being on the same IDE channel.

Anybody else run into this?
 
If I"m not mistaken two IDE devices on the same channel have to run in the same mode. Most optical drives don't support much above DMA33. So there is a possiblity that your hard drive wasn't running at ATA100 and that was the cause.
