I've got a 6300, so with the low multiplier, I'll need to use a 5:4 ratio or so for max overclock. Is there a significant memory/system performance drop by using async memory?

Some previous CPUs were just fine, but some had a significant hit, so whats the case with a p965 and a c2d?

The P965 doesn't let you run memory slower than FSB. You can only use dividers greater than 1:1.

I meant 1:1 or greater. It's not so bad. DDR2-800 will get you around 3 GHz no problem.
