P4 3Ghz w/ HT, 512MB, 128mb 9700 agp

vs.

Pentium M 1.5Ghz, 512MB, 128mb 9600 turbopro

How much of a gaming difference? Big or little? Enough of a difference to sacrifice the battery life?

it depends on what you want for a laptop. after looking at the benches i would definately take a dothan over a p4. not only did it hold its own but it gets excellent battery life.

the 9700 is much better for 3D.
but it depends on what you want...... battery life, etc.. also keep in mind the 9600 Pro albeit not being AS good, still runs most stuff well enough.

I think I'm going to go with the 8600 based on battery life alone. The extra 3D kick would be nice, but most of the games I'll be playing on it(BF:Vietnam mainly) run just fine on not top of the line systems as long as you don't jack everything up to max. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to severely handicap myself in the gaming department.
