Performance and Reliability in Vista x64 broke my driver

Yesterday I downloaded and installed both the Performance and Reliability and the Compatibility and Reliability packages in Vista Ultimate x64; both seemed to work fine, until I tried to play a game using my Nostromo n52 controller. The controller has only an unsigned, very unofficial driver (it's written for XP x64), but it works.

At least, until I install the Performance and Reliability package.

I had to disable the "require signed drivers" to even get the controller to work correctly in the first place, and after installing that update, the controller goes back to having the fun ! in the device manager, and fails to load it until I remove the package.

I've heard rumor that it's forcing signed drivers to be used - removing the ability to even turn it off in Vista. Anyone else having similar issues?

Okay, I see how it's mentioned in the earlier thread - seems kind of lame that something like this would be in the final official release. I don't really want to hit F8 every time I boot up my computer to make it so my drivers work. :/

Is there any word on a fix floating around yet?
