so, i work at a tiny software company doing customer support. when i was hired the hiring mgr told me in 60-90 days i would get a review. It's been 91 and i've heard nothing. So...i'm sending this email to him:
well, i honestly do want to know what i am doing right and wrong, but my main purpose is to get some more money. I think they started me off a bit lower than what i wanted (my fault, didn't really get things running like i wanted when being hired). basically they never gave me a chance to negotiate my pay. i was hired, then told they would pay me what they were paying the other intern. i later found out it was 12/hr. It isnt bad, but i was hoping for something more like 14-15. Now, i don't think i can get away with a 2/hr raise after just 91 days of employment, but do you think i can squeeze away 1-1.50 ? It's something i do part-time (20-30 hours week, 40 when not in school) and i don't really need the job. They don't necessarily HAVE to have me, but i make the workload on my department drop dramatically and they are always stressed out. They've put a lot of time and effort into me and they don't want to hire another person and go through this all again, I'm sure. So, maybe i can use that as bargaining power, but i don't want to threaten to quit.
you guys got any ideas on scoring me some more cash? I've got a bad feeling he will schedule the review for sometime this week, it will be spontaneous, and they will try not to even talk about more money.
edit: Also, do you think this email is good enough?
Mr. X,
I was wondering if you knew when my performance review will be scheduled. If I remember correctly, when I was hired you said it would be 60-90 days and as of now it has been a tad over 90. I?d really like to know how I am coming along and what areas I might need improvement on. Please let me know when you find a time that you think is suitable.
Thanks,
