there are some photographs I would like to upload to an online album and I would like to keep it as small as possible with the best possible quality. I use paint shop pro 7 to save the pictures in jpg so what compression percentage should I use for the balance between size and quality, with quality having a little more priority (but keep in mind these photos will be viewed on a monitor)?

You can usually do about 30-50% compression, without losing too much. Be sure you crop them properly, that will save lots of space as well.

I use Photopaint8 and 25% seems to be optimum for emphasis on quality. But there are some files that vary widely from that, from 5% to as high as 90%.
