PEP66T with Sanyo Denki Pico Ace 25, anything better for socket 370?

I have several PEP66's and think they're very good, but since they use a 60mm fan (even a quiet one), they're a bit whiny. A better choice is a Theramlright SK7 with an undervolted Panaflo L1A. It's extremely quiet and cools excellently on an S370 board.

Nice way to bring good older hardware along with you. Good pictorial, too. I'd put the open side of the shroud to the rear, towards the exhaust fan, might open up the other side of the shroud some near the heatsink base to enhance airflow.

Should work extremely well, the pep66 is more than enough for any tualatin...

I wouldn't pay retail to get one and then mod it- might as well buy a 6035, or a svc gc69- cheaper and quieter, if it'll fit...

I agree a 80mm fan underpowered would probably be a quieter solution....

I already own the PEP66T (on a PowerLeap Slotket adapter now)....so rather than spend $40+ on a nicer heatsink/fan I will mod this one and keep my eyes open for thoses selling off old coolers.

:)

Thanks for the help and pointers

been wanting to quiet my case, so I ordered 5 PCP&C silencer 80mm fans (27 cfm 20 dB, had adda whisper cools for my case at 26.2 cfm 22.5 dB) and a Thermalright SLK-800 :)
