Could you tell us exactly which enemy he adheres to, or gave aid and comfort to?

If he is ever court-martialed, it will be for unlawful use of government property or something since treason can't be proved.

no teason would never stick but i believe that espionage would.

Espionage or spying involves an individual obtaining information that is considered secret or confidential without the permission of the holder of the information.

I'm pretty sure he was the source of the identities of our allies in Afghanistan.

We have no allies there. Afghan cops and soldiers are blowing themselves up and shooting at us like it's going out of style. Everybody there hates us (except the corrupt politicians taking our pallets of cash and giving it to their families).

Blaming this guy for anything wrong over there would be a sad joke.

I don't think this guy did it out of principles. He's troubled.

Still should tried for treason.
I would love to see him on trial, because I'm sure there would be more damning evidence would surface against the corrupted & lying American government /Arm force.

Good to see that there is no real governing that needs to be done in Berkley. I mean with the economy in shambles and all, this is a HUGE priority. I guess they have figured out all of their local problems.

I don't understand why people say this. (although it is a favorite refrain line anytime any governmental body does pretty much anything) Legislatures take symbolic votes all the time, it takes very little time, and there's no evidence that the council isn't passing other initiatives because they can't squeeze them in.

It is a COMPLETE waste of time. And time is money. We have little of the latter, so we should be taking advantage of the time that we have to work on real problems.

Hell, congress just voted on a resolution to honor the 2500th anniversary of the battle of marathon (which was in Greece I may add). It was introduced on Sept 29, wasted time in Committee (where I am sure someone caused a delay), and then went to vote on Dec 8. It wasted at least 2:56 (I thinrd of a working day) from debate to vote. Do we really have that much time to waste when we are getting nowhere with fixing the real, current problems with government and the nation.

You need to realize he's in love with politicians - he is a "super smart political guy" after all.

A year or three ago I listed a bunch of major issues Congress needed to tackle, as they were wasting time and energy on 8 F'ing lawyers that served at the pleasure of the president. His response was what he just posted and you responded to: That Congress could work on multiple issues at once.

A truly astonishing statement, however, I'm not a "super smart political guy" (just one who has to deliver for his job, unlike Congress, but hey...), so obviously he knew better than us regular simple folk.

Years later now, while Congress has been super duper busy multitasking, made up of all self professed "super smart political guys", just like our own "super smart political guy", how are they fairing on the list of issues?

Zero accomplished.

"Super smart" indeed......

The sad thing is, this happens at all levels of government. Just look over the minutes from your last city hall meeting, and you will find tons of wasted time, while the real issues get glossed over or sent to expensive consultants. This is caused by people never really wanting to step up and solve potentially controversial problems. Politicians are in it for themselves, and as such waste their time on stupid issues, while the real problems grow and grow.

It is also an effect of people spending other peoples money. Those that are spending never see the waste and stupidity.

Problems in legislative bodies very very rarely remain unsolved because the members just couldn't find the time. The reason why the 'real problems' remain unsolved is usually because some disagreement that groups can't overcome or whatever. Whether or not this council or Congress or anyone else names a post office or whatever isn't what's stopping the legislative process.

The fact is, there are massive wastes of time at all levels of government. If you could add it all up, it would seem crazy.

It isn't about blame....it's about a fact. He provided classified information which potentially could cause harm to his fellow soldiers and Americans and her allies.

Being a serviceman isn't like working at a target store. He took an oath and knew exactly what the hell he was doing when he broke that oath. He's a traitor and a liar...simple as that.

Fuck Berkeley and California....

Your trolling has become too obvious. Tone it down and you might actually hook more people.

I agree. When you look at the actual content of the released material, and the fact that it doesn't contain anything particularly damning or treacherous, it makes his acts even more disdainful. He wasn't revealing some covert torture operation in Guantanamo Bay. He wasn't bringing to light some nefarious plan to attack Iran for oil. He wasn't providing proof of direct attacks on civilian targets. There's nothing in there whose release could be justified under a whistle blower protection. In short, he either did this for monetary gain, or out of spite/malice towards the US.

Throw him in Leavenworth and throw away the key.
