Where do you go if you are really sick? They always ask me for my insurance before they let me inside anywhere I go. What about dentist?

You go to a doctor and tell them you'll pay in cash - problem solved.

When I was unemployed for nearly 2 years I'd go to the local medical place. $60 for the visit and if I needed medication they would either give me enough samples to be the equivalent of a prescription or give me a subscription for a generic.

Now that I have medical insurance with prescription coverage they give me prescriptions for $220 drugs.

Most major cities have at least one hospital which provides free care.I'm proud to say that the organization I work for provides such, oftentimes we get people coming in thru our emergency room who lack insurance. We see them for the presenting illness but our financial counselor interviews them quickly, tries to get them medicare or medicaid and if they can't do that will qualify the person for full or partial free care from our hospital and not just for that specific illness but also for ongoing care and medications.

Contrary to the image of the no good bum looking to leech off the system, the uninsured are very often working people who are more than eligible for some help but not wanting to be leeches, they delay preventative care and don't come in till they are REALLY sick.

Or just stay sick. If you can't make it, die, you probably weren't contributing to society anyway.

That statement is pure ignorance. You would be amazed at the number of employers who either don't offer health insurance or those who do but charge such high rates for coverage that their workers cannot afford it.
