how long did it take you to fully accept your condition and the fact that you are injured for life?

or did you ever accept it?

Yup, four or five years. I had a great doc, he once asked me what I was so upset about. I told him, "well, for instance, I can never run a marathon." He laughed and asked me if I ever would have had I not had the accident. Good point doc.

Took me a year or two -- now I just deal with it, since its never going away. No use crying over it.

i'm going on my 5th year now, and i'm just now gettin to the point that i wont hide my deformity as much as i used too...that being said, i still dont put it on display

4 or 5 years sounds about right. Was in total denial for the longest time, memories from that period all seem dark and odd.
