I haven't tried, but I was impressed to find out that it only takes 2 KWh per night to run the a/c in my bedroom.

I measured my system a few years ago using a Kill-a-Watt. What surprised me the most was the amount of power my 2.1 speakers and little all-in-one printer use even when idle or off. Even when the printer is turned off, the power brick is drawing current; other wall-warts (modem, e.g.) and power bricks waste a lot of electricity even if the device is turned off.

262 watts, including the monitor. Damn thing doubles as a space heater.

Yeah, that sucks. They're always warm when plugged in, even when they aren't connected to a device.
My speakers also use power when "off" - 6W. I had the subwoofer open to install a switch to turn the speaker on and off, so that it wouldn't always be generating super-powerful bass. I also installed a main on/off switch to shut the power off completely.

My Q6600 with X1900 idles around 160W. At full load, it peaks around 255W.

With monitor, it idles at about 280W without s2kctl (k7 powersave program) running, about 250W with s2kctl running, and 342W under max load.
