People with high IQ

What are their accoplishments & contribution to society in general? I'm trying to find a corellation between it.

Like, what do they do?

What is the definition of IQ anyway, just to tell you "yay you're smart" ?

Does anyone have a history or timeline of people with high IQ and their accomplishment?

I can't give too many examples off the top of my head, but IQ is basically a measure of your fluid/abstract intelligence. People like this generally can give us insane stuff in the maths and sciences.
They define the boxes you and I are supposed to think outside of 🙂

IQ probably has a weak correlation with accomplishments. I'd say motivation is much larger factor. At my school (MIT), I'd say more than half the people are lazy asses (myself included). Sure we're all decently smart people, but if you don't feel like doing anything with yourself, it doesn't matter how smart you are.

Noun 1. IQ - a measure of a person's intelligence as indicated by an intelligence test; the ratio of a person's mental age to their chronological age (multiplied by 100)

Accomplishment isn't IQ.

In terms of financial success, millionaires average around 120, iirc. My guess is that this is because you have to be smarter than others, but close enough in intellect to relate to them, to attain wealth.

It's weird,

I saw a video segment one time where it shows the corellation between people with high iq and violent killers.

LOL it's scary that most of them have very high iq levels.

Nice

Did you go directly from high school or did you do other post-secondary studies before entering?

Speaking of MIT.

I saw on the history channel one time that about ~7 MIT students went to Las Vegas to gamble. They were so smart that they figured out the probability of winning in a card game in every hand.

For one weekend, the went home millionaires and were blacklisted from all casinos (not because they cheat, because they are too good and win all the money)

If you want to learn about IQ, google for Sho Yano.

A brief history:
He was born in 1991
Played Chopin on the piano at age 3.
Scored 1500 on the SAT at age 8.
Entered Loyola University at age 9
Graduated magna cum laude at age 12

Roughly translated it means The Big Cheese.

My IQ is very high and I contribute very little to society other than smacking the occasional idiot.

Edit: Also a timeline of people with very high IQs and there accomplishments would be deceiving because they have to accomplish something. Most don't. It is only when they do that someone attributes it to their "higher" intelligence.

IQ is essentially a measure of one's capacity for learning. The successful people also have motivation to use all of their potential.
