I have very little experience with real dental work beyond cleanings. How much does this type of stuff usually cost? I realize it's going to depend on the area and the dentist, but I'm looking for ballpark ranges for procedures such as:

1. Root canal + crown
2. Tooth extraction + bridge
3. Fillings
4. Veneers
5. Bleach/laser whitening

I had a root canal + crown and I believe it cost $1500.

Fillings I think are ~$150?

I recently had 3 fillings replaced and 3 teeth bonded. Total dentist charge was $1026.

Edit: total dentist time was about 15 minutes, no novacaine used.

Had a root canal for $800. Never got the crown cause it would've been another $700 and I couldn't afford it.

I had braces, 2 fillings, surgery on my front teeth ... all for free. Back home in Morocco (third world country! ) and never had to go to the dentist here !

Like you said, it's going to vary by the dentist and area, but this might help a bit joshsquall :)

I went to the dental college.

I got Zoom bleaching for $200.
I got a four quadrant scraping for $450.
I got CrownBridgeCrown and two fillings replaced and a root canal for $1,100.

(I was a mess when I went in. My teeth looked good and are pretty white for a coffee drinking smoker. But, I am a BIG TIME grinder/clencher and did a lot of damage to my jaw. The roots of my teeth started to microscopically splinter. Added to the fact that I had two teeth pulled when I was a teenager that caused the rest of my back teeth to shift and weaken my bones... i needed a lot of work)

1. Root canal + crown = $1500 endodontist + top dentist, $800 new grad does both

2. Tooth extraction + bridge = $1500+ depending on how complex bridge is

3. Fillings = $300 if billed to insurance, $120-150 if you pay out of pocket

4. Veneers = don't know

5. Bleach/laser whitening = $50/treatment. Better to use Crest Whitening System. My dentist suggested that over his own treatment.

I don't know. 25 bucks a month for insurance and I don't have to pay anything.

Except the braces. I got to put down 4500 for something that keeps me from eating steak and brings me pain.

I think when I got the teeth extracted it was 250 a tooth, but I didn't have ot pay for it.

I just had a couple of root canals and a bunch of fillings, and going to have many more treatments. Paid out of my own pocket about $200-300. Thank goodness for dental insurance but I'm gonna max out this years limit after the crowning.

That's what I got after 4+ yrs of not visiting a dentist because I was too broke in college

I am at that age where the metal fillings from my youth are giving me trouble as the enamel errodes around them. Last year I had a filling come out and had it replaced with the white epoxy/resin for about $180. This year I had a molar break around an old filling. That cost $100 for a POS temp filling and $275 for a 3 surface epoxy/resin filling that took 90 minutes. Between the time I got temp and the final filling, I was chewing on the other side (at an angle) and sheared off the side of a molar. That is going to need a $945 gold crown. Five years ago HomeAppraisersWife got a full gold crown for only $600. Fvck I gotta raise the price of my appraisals! By 50%, I wish. Sucks not have a company to pay $200 a month for my dental insurance.
