I'm looking to pick one up for myself to save some space in my closet of a room. Where did you get yours? How much did you pay?

ed: I guess we're talking about a shelf here, not a rack. sorry :D

Yeah.. seriously. All of the racks that I can find are freaking expensive. Even rackmount chasis are high priced.

But all I want is one of those black wire racks. Like around $100 I think for a decent sized one?

If you're talking about this kind of black wire rack, you can get them at homedepot for < $100.

I got several of them at Target a while back (they had both chrome and black). I think they were on sale for $25, $29.95, or something in that range. I'd also gotten some that are quite a bit larger from Sam's Club, and they weren't as good a deal, but they were still under $100.

OK.. so what about an actual RACK?
I'm not talking a huge rack that has to be bolted into the floor. I'm talking one of the half-racks that are kind of like cabinets but still have rack mounting slots/brackets in them?

not a shelf.

not a shelf.

Check music supply places, they should have one, or you can buy a whole rack and take a chop saw to it and make two racks.

Please note that the black wire racks that people have posted CAN be used for rack mounts. There are rack mount accessories that you can use to put rack mount stuff on them. The accesory, listed here will accomodate them. Keep in mind you don't have to get Metro brand racks, any of the black/silver wire racks that folks have linked to will work with these accessories along with others like keyboard/mouse slide out trays.

I remember seeing some wire rack shelves at costco, on the large side but I guess you can split in half.

I don't think HD's website would be of much service. You would be best to just drop in and check out their shelving options of which you would find lots of. Other places like Lowe's would be good too. Walmart as well.
