People with allergies: recommend me a vacuum cleaner.

Our old one just isn't cuttting it any more as a lot of the fine particles go right through the bag and back out into the house. What's the latest/greatest model out there that will cut down or eliminate this?

Thanks!🙂

Don't skimp. Get something with "True Hepa' System filtration.

For a good one... that really works you are looking at approx. $200. - $250.00. They do go up over $1,000. but that is for businesses and kinda silly.

You can get a vacuum for about $80.00 but you get what you pay for.

And stay away from fantom!! they suck. they fall apart and there is no customer service. Just a constant busy signal from the company's phone number for like weeks at at time. We got sick of calling after three days and did a Google search and found some real horror stories.

We use the Dirt Devil now. Does a pretty decent job for the money, but we know there are better ones out there. We are just too cheap to spend for them.

Ooohhh I think its the Dyson. I saw the commercial last night, they went all out for it. The commercial is too dramatic.

Or just go get the Oreck XL whatever. This vac will last for at least 10 years of home use. And youll likely get the free knives, iron, hand vac, etc....
For about $400, I think

problem with "hepa" filters are, no matter how good the filter is, if you don't have a good seal for the filter in the holder it really isn't as good as advertised. Fantoms are like that. i have one in the garage. it has a GREAT filter, but the filter holder isnt' air tight, then the filter isn't being as effective as it could be is it. 🙁

the Rainbow system used water to filter.

Rainbow is pretty good, but very expensive.

I have noticed a difference since I bought my Rainbow. I even used it as a blower to clean the dirt out of my garage! It really is a great machine.

The dyson's are excellent - the DC07 Allergy looks like a good option: See here
When I was last in Sears I saw some new brand of vacuum they seemed to be pushing. After seeing something familiar on that site, sure enough, it was Dyson vacuums. $500 for the top of the line, but I have heard that bagless vacuums typically don't perform that well compared to bag ones.
