I have monthly disposables and usually end up wearing them up to a month longer because I forget to change them.

I switch em out once a month. There was a point where I kept them for as long as 3-4 months, though... basically, I wore them until they ripped or couldn't be worn for some reason.

I wear them probably a month to two months. Depends if my eyes start to hurt. I'm cheap I guess. :p

My optometrist said "wear them until they don't feel good anymore."

He knows what he's talking about and is usually pretty conservative with that stuff, so I know it should be OK. Mine usually last twice as long as advertised. A 6 month pack plus the trials usually last me a year.

I keep my contacts in eye for an average of 6 months. I DO NOT take them out unless I put new ones in. I have done this for about 7 or 8 years now with few problems. My eye doctor is aware and while he disapproves, he admits I have no damage from it yet. The longest consecutive time in-eye is 1 year for one eye, 9 months for the other.

My reason is not so much cost though, my vision is bad enought that a nightime emergency would render me helpless without them in. I did just switch from the 2 week Accuview to some 1 month continuous wear brand that is made for it, but they're not as comfortable. They're definitely not worth the extra 50 a box.

I wear them until either 1) I feel it's time to change them (usually a month and half) or 2) One of the contacts starts bothering my eye.

that's how mine is

i typically wore my 1 months for 3-4 months, usually until they ripped or just felt plain horrible.
i have new 3 month ones though, and still haven't reached the 3 month mark so we'll see how they shape up after that mark.

Mine would always get a kind of dimple on it somewhere that would start irritating my eye. That was how I knew when to change em.

I month disposables usually lasted me 3 months or so.

I'm looking to get contacts too.

Question, when you say "wear them until they don't feel good anymore", does that mean you wear them all the time? (like in bed, etc... you never take them out until they go bad??)
Call me new to the whole contact thing :p

I wear my 2-weeks upto a month. There have been times though where I would have to get them replaced after 2, 3 weeks because of irritation (dust getting into my eyes on windy days, etc.)

wizboy11, I take my contacts out every night. It's good to give your eyes rest for ~8 hours :)

how do you do that? My eyes are bloodshot red and dry when I even fall asleep and wake up to take my contacts out in the middle of the night.

I keep my night and days in for about a month at a time. I only take them out when my eyes feel uncomfortable.

I really don't feel like messing up my eyes by wearing them longer than I should.

My half-brother wears 2-week contacts; he claims he wears them about 4-5 weeks before he tosses them, but he uses some sort of eye drops to make them feel better after the 3-3 1/2 week period.

I guess you get used to it. It takes about 2 days to "break in" a new pair, and then they feel fine. I can tell when I need a new pair by the feel or if they get cloudy. I find that any discomfort from continuous wear is better than the discomfort of cleaning and re-insterting. Theres nothing worse than having an eyelash under your contact, and that doesn't happen if you don't take them out.

Why don't you keep glasses close to you for 'night time emergencies'?

I only wear contacts outdoors, and use my monthly's about 2 months. The way I see it, I can get a new batch of contacts for 100 bucks, while a new set of eyes would cost... well, you figure that out. ;)

Because I can't see them. Without glasses or contacts in I have to feel for everything. When you have to feel for your glasses on the night stand half the time you end up knocking them on the floor, which could end up taking me 5mins to find.
