People who write vague emails are assholes!

Tenants will only be able to pay rent online starting January 1st, 2005. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE LEASING OFFICE OR VIA FAX.

okay... what does that mean for people who pay with checks in 6 month blocks because of the discount? And what ever happened to service with a smile? This has got to be the rudest policy notification I ever got from a buisness EVER. It was just this text and an attached signature.... wtf....?

I can't wait to not renew my lease....

I think you're overreacting. It sounds like it's only for tenants that pay with credit card.

I certainly hope they mean that if you choose to pay rent by credit card you will only be able to do so online and that they would continue to accept checks or cash or whatever as usual. But yeah, it is vague.

I did, and I'm going to carbon copy my response to the reply to her boss asking her why the hundreds of people on the mailing list were just treated so rudley....

says nothing about checks, so that policy is probably still the same.

But it does say: Tenants will only be able to pay rent online starting January 1st, 2005.

Which would lead me to believe that the only way I can pay my rent at all is by doing so online. . .that's if I was a dumb ass and didn't realize they probably worded it poorly. Maybe English is a second language to whomever wrote the email notice.

thats not really rude. just short and to the point. im sure tha apt. manager has more things to do than write fluffy poems in her emails that make the tenants feel all fuzzy.

i took it as the cant pay online before jan. 1st, as theres no way in hell they would require payment online with a credit card only.

agreed, it is worded poorly

It probably should have read more like:
Starting January 1, 2006, tenants who wish to make rent payments via credit card will only be able to do so online. Credit card transactions will no longer be conducted by the leasing office in any fashion.

or something like that.

I don't understand why a national property management corperation can't be held to the same standard as my bank or a credit card company. These kinds of notifications should ALWAYS include a "sorry for the inconvienience" and a number to call incase you have further questions. I have my response typed out and now I'm just debating sending it...

was it sent from some regional/main office, or just from the employee on site at the apt complex? if its just fromt he person on site, then youre probably lucky you got that as most on site managers suck balls.

I dont think it is rude. If that email was fluffed up into a couple paragraphs, etc. nobody would read it.

Also, even tho they send out a clear, short email, there are still going to be idiots trying to pay their rent at the office next month.

Exactly. From my experience, my landlords that have been part of a larger organization that owns many housing complexes are usually not very nice people. At least our current one is nice enough to get people over to fix things when they break. At least write them an e-mail and say you felt they were rude and vague, not to mention they should have proofread.
