People who wear glasses, how do you keep your lenses from getting scratched?

Put them in a case when they're not on your face. The only time they get scratched is if you put them on a table unprotected. Keep cheap cases in different places for when you need to take your glasses off.

Also, glass lenses are more scratch resistant than polycarbonate, but it's heavier.

I've had three glasses and two sunglasses. All have gotten their lenses scratched, no matter how careful I am, and the scratches get annoying. How do you guys manage to not scratch your lenses? Polycarbonate, even with antiscratch coatings, doesn't seem to do anything. Glass would be best, but it's dangerous and heavy.

interesting.. my Polycarbonate glasses havent been scratched after 2 years.

my glasses w/glass lens were scratched within 1 week of getting them. and i have no idea how i scratched it.

i always thought glass was harder to scratch than Polycarbonate???

Glass is very hard to scratch. I've got an... 8 year old Timex watch with mineral glass and it's been through EVERYTHING. No scratches on the glass whatsoever. Watches that I've had with polycarbonate lenses have been scratched all to heck.

Where do you get eyeglasses with glass lenses? I thought they weren't allowed to be sold because they're dangerous if broken...

Nah, glass glasses are still pretty common, and not that dangerous under normal conditions. YES, they can shatter if you break them, but I've worn them for years, and the only time I've ever broken a pair of lenses is when I dropped them from about 15'...fell off my face one hot summer day, and CRASH...Most DOT laws require polycarbonate lenses for motorcycle use, and most jobs that require ANSI z87 safety glasses spec polycarbonate lenses to meet the ANSI standards.

how scratched exactly? i have whatever lenscrafters uses.. heh.. polycarb i presume. Never had an issue with their lenses. The only time I've had to change them are if my Rx changed, or if I broke my frames.

Oakley's are also in very good condition.. but they mostly reside in my car.

The scratches start off as small microscratches. Then I somehow manage to get a few bigger scratches here and there.

Do you guys with no scratches use your glass cases all the time?

All day for the most part.

I have kinda thick eyebrows, and sometimes oil gets on the lenses as a result, such as during the day or on a backpacking trip.

Just get your eyebrows waxed. Problem solved.
