People who waste your time...

I guess this is a rant more than anything else, I think it's pretty annoying when people don't take 5 seconds to read something before either PM'ing you or asking something that has been clearly stated, or directions in general.
One instance is when you sell something and clearly mark it as sold then some newb (I know I have a low post count but I am more of a lurker anyways) decides to be all "OMGHI2U CAN I BUY YOUR WIDGET FOR $XXX NEWEGG SELLS IT FOR $XXX"

It's annoying, just that simple, I usually respond with "I dunno why don't you read the thread?" or the other thing I notice is they quote a signifigantly lower price for an item that is same chipset but different manufacturer clock speed etc... i.e. some generic POS card for $50 lower vice a good brand name card (with a longer warranty etc) which is whats for sale. To which I respond "I'm not selling a POS card, if you want that one go buy it because I don't have it for sale" I mean really lowballing and trying to get over on people is so lame I just wish all you I want everything for free or as close to it as possible types would stay off the regular internet and keep your crap on AOL or something

So I work in support and on occasion we have customers (company will remain nameless) who don't bother to read release notes or manuals for our product and then set it up incorrectly and then have the nerve to bitch at us when it doesn't do what THEY expected...

How hard is it to 1. READ a thread or 2. READ directions?

Does anyone else get this annoyed at non-reading people?

People will always throw out ridiculous lowballs, it just happens.

I remember a while back when I was selling a 2x1gb kit of Corsair XMS. I wanted $150, and some guy wanted it for $70 and said Newegg had a geil kit for $79. I asked him for a link for a 2gb kit for $79, he PMed me back with a link to a 2x512mb kit of Geil Value. Lets just say I ignored all his PMs after that.

Two the 2 above lol, nice guys nice...

Nahh what it was that set me off was I sold an evga 7600gt ko on here maybe a week ago for pretty cheap IMO($110 shipped), and I had tried to sell it for a little more about 2 months ago and so some guy PM'd me and asked if he could buy it for less then what I was asking ($100 plus shipping) and quoted some BFG card with DDR2 on it for $80 and I am like 1. the card sold so did you read the thread? 2. the card is an evga 7600gt ko so I am not selling a BFG card 3. Tthe answer is no it's not available and supposedly I am the ass? sure not to mention the guy was asking about the thread that was almost 2 months old.... way to revivie a dead thread...

So yeah the guy responds telling me off and then ignores me? like i am the jerkoff? lol

LOL... well, the price for being smart is knowing how stupid everyone else is.

I don't mind the shipping part but lowballers kill me when it's already a good deal and they try and get it cheaper, like really the bottom line is you have to pay to play and if you can't then just GTFO yanno? I love all the keyboard commando's on the forums now too lol

People who waste my time when they could definitely be doing something useful piss me off more. For example, you're inevitably stuck with a couple of friends because you don't drive. Said friends do nothing for two hours other than sit in the car, when the mall is less than 10 minutes away. Come to think of it, I should've just walked to the mall.

Ok, so you're whining that someone didn't see that you already sold the item. Fair enough.

But, half of your rant is about someone who offered $100 for an item that you were asking $110 for?! Either you're an idiot, or you're an auto salesman's wet dream. "How much are you asking for that car?" "$36,000" "Okay, I won't attempt to negotiate on the price. I'll take it."

An offer 9% below the asking price is NOT low-balling.

No someone offered me less than $100 for a card(evga 7600GT KO) worth more than $100 (all day long) and cited a card not even close in comparison (some odd DDR2 version of this chipset on a BFG card) to attempt to low ball me on an already dirt cheap deal for starters. Secondly they were reading a post 2 months old (roughly) and I had posted a more recent thread to try to sell the card again and 3 (IIRC) posts down indicated that the card was sold for $110. So I asked the guy if he actually read the thread (as the current one indicated it was sold) and told him if he wanted a DDR2 BFG card to go find someone who had one for sale cause I didn't and he then proceeded to call me an asshole when he's the one who couldn't be bothered enough to actually read the thread. So I'm no idiot and you have a comprehension problem.

Actually it is if the asking price is already well below market value. Seeing as how I had 3 people within 30 minutes to an hour contact me trying to buy it at that price without haggling... Guess I was asking WAY too much eh?

I haven't been around /forever/, but I have been on the sending and receiving ends of more than a few trades..so just a couple notes:

You mention the thread was two months old and the item was marked as sold. Fair enough...if he missed the 'sold' part and offered you $10 under your two month old asking price, that is reasonable. Sure, his antics afterward were not -- but you could simply have replied "Sorry, it has been sold." The search on this forum sucks, so there's a very good possibility that he had not seen your more recent thread.

To be perfectly honest, if you continue with this attitude, you very well may be on a few DNT lists.

$0.02

Edit: Hello to a fellow NH-erian, btw. 🙂

The original asking (in the old thread) was ~$140ish so he was attempting to offer me ~$90 based on the $80 BFG card(that wasn't even similar). These (evga 7600GT's) still sell on the egg for ~130 and plenty of other sites too and thats what irritated me more is the comparing the card I was selling to something not even close as far as product like I am going to lack the knowledge to know that the $80 card is not even close to the same product. I guess it just permeates most message boards these days, that is to say a lot of people who just always try and lowball even if the price is already pretty low. It's just annoying is all... I see it in the car forums I am on all the time, everyone wants something for nothing, maybe you don't have the money to spend or whatever but really whatever happened to the concept of "You gotta pay to play"?

as far as being on a few DNT lists I doubt it as anyone I have ever done buisness with has always been very pleased as I usually ship same day and priority (less than 4 days anywhere in the country) I don't sell very often and ironically it's cause of lowballers, I would rather donate my hardware to charity before I sell it to some lowballer...

EDIT: Where in NH? anywhere near nashua?
