Caution: Hipster rant.

Drives me crazy when people say "people like you"

I'm not a fking snowflake, but seriously... I despise generalizations like this. If I didn't say something, then I surely did not say something that someone else said. I am NOT going to reap the consequences of other people's opinions. Nor should anyone.

Damn that pisses me off.

I don't really hear that. I think I might be a special snowflake :^D

Typical exchange with my boss. Happens at least once a week...

Me: Some opinion...

Boss: You're the only person who thinks that way. If you polled everyone, 99%/...

Me: cutting him off... /I don't give a shit what everyone else thinks. Everyone else is an idiot, and why we got stuck with Clinton and Trump...

Wah wah, let me guess, presuming someone is a male or female also offends you? How DARE we assume someones gender.

Get off your high horse about completely unimportant topics in life. Liberals are more concerned about what pronouns we use more than people starving or americans being killed overseas or the economy in general.

It's somewhat rude, depending on context and intent.

One issue: it's often inaccurate and insulting. For example, it can be directed at 'liberals' - "people like you are why cops are killed" type absurdities.

Sometimes, that's the intent to be insulting. For example, someone says 'climate change is a hoax' - you say, 'people like you are an embarrassment to our country' or whatever criticism.

And sometimes it can be a compliment - you donate to a charity, someone says 'people like you make our country better'.

My advice: it's best avoided, unless you mean to have it have that somewhat insulting or complimentary tone.

Even if it's accurate, it usually rubs people the wrong way.
