Long time starcraft player here trying to get use to C&C. I have no manual for this game so help me out:

First of all, how come you can't use the arrows to scroll?!! So annoying!

Secondly, how do you make your units attack-move? Meaning move to this area and attack everything on the way. I hate lefting clicking on individual enemy units.

Third, how do the way points work in the game? What's this deal with setting up like 10 way points?

Fourth, how do you set up rally points in the game so when units come out, they go straight there?

Fifth, when you make 4-5 barracks, that speeds up unit prodution right? How does this work since you are issueing build orders on the main screen rather than to each barracks? Like you click marine on the right side of the screen but the game doesn't say which of the 4-5 barracks hes going to come out of.

thanks!

Tiberian Sun wasn't all that good IMO. Generals was better.

Edit - StarCraft still better than both. :p

RA was definitely better than TS and Generals, but its still far behind SC in the quality of gameplay, graphics, storyline, etc. :p

I disagree on all 3 accounts. The worst thing about RA was the fact that it kept on dropping out in LAN matches where SC rarely dropped if ever.

i havnt played the game in a few years but...

5.) there's a way to select one of the barracks to be the one where units come out of. try click on a barracks and see what options come up.

4.) see 5.

4) Left Click once on the barracks, left click once on the area you want to be the rally point I think.

5) IIRC, double left click on the barracks. Do it not as a double click... click once and the cursor should change to a deploy cursor i believe and clicking again will set the building to the 'primary building' where troops will come out.

Try these, it may work. Its been several years since my eyes laid sight on TS which was the disappointment of the 20th century in gaming i believe.

my point being that the game runs at 640x480 and that looks really bad on 19" crt monitors or larger.

Being an old school PC gamer I find that gameplay is much more important than graphics.

I go back and replay certain games like the Mechwarrior series. MW4 looks great and has almost the same feel as the original MW2.

Now that Warcraft 3 frozen throne is out I don't play starcraft very often, but still play it with a friend occasionally. We team up against a couple of computer to get our starcraft fix. We have bought almost all of hte C&C games and once we get bored with them we never seem to pick them up again. I think we played Yuris revenge for a couple of months but then one day just ran right back to blizzard. It's all about how the game plays and fancy graphics are secondary.

Apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread here. Hope my post solved your problem.

I found Mechwarrior 3 better than 4 in many respects. Although 4 introduced some niceites including improved graphics for the better part and imo, an easier to work/understand mech modification system. I much prefered the storyline in MW3, especially the way it was told.... that was phenomenal. The 'battle planning person' made you feel right at home, setting out objectives and threats clearly. Once you picked up additional mechwarriors for your lance, cross-chat made you feel more like you were there. Gauss Rifle and PPC animations were far superior in MW3, as were the Pulse lasers.

MW4 Mercenaries was enjoyable, albeit very short which was the downfall of MW2 Mercs as well imo. The biggest problems I had with Mercenaries was that it didnt feel like you were truely in command of a mercenary troop. 2 Lances of mechs isnt a huge number, the Lance Commander aspect of your hirelings was under used. The biggest disappointment here was that the lance commanders were just as useless as your other hirelings, they didnt command their own lance at all. Plus there was only ever 1 possible dropzone. Hot dropping multiple lances into multiple locations would have made it much more interesting imo.

Sorry for a little rant but I cant find many MW fans to discuss it with. Its a pity that any MW5 seems to have been wiped off the slate and that the Xbox now has the attention of the Battletech series.
