i have a 1992 Honda Accord LX(4 door) and just installed an Apline 7873. but i want to do something different with teh retractible antenna. THese things gunk up and break quite often. Mine inst totally broken but wont retracte all the way. I am going to buy a new unit but want to control the antenna from a switch inside. But coming from the car's wiring harness there is only 1 antenna lead. and on the back the antenna has 3 wires running into it. if anyone knows how to rig it so i can control when in antenna can go up instead of it going up and down everything the radio or car loses power would be greadtly appreciated!! thanks in advance

If you are saying there are 3 wires connecting the antena, and only one connected to the radio, that's exactly how things should be.

One is the on/off relay, the other two are probably the +/- that drive the small motor for the antenna.

There should only be one connected to the radio head unit, and any decent head unit has a connection for the antenna that either retracts the antenna when the AM/FM radio isn't in use (while you are listening to a CD, etc.) or has a button with an "ATT" on it that retracts/extends the power antenna. Although sometimes the ATT button stands for "attention" which mutes the stereo.

Just look in the head unit manual (if there is one) about an ATT button or about the Antenna relay.

You could also wire a switch into the trigger line from the radio, but that would still retract the antenna whenever the car shut off.
