Nadia Comaneci is probably one of the best gymnasts ever to live.

She scored SEVEN perfect 10's in 1976. SEVEN!

Nadia was only 14 when she competed in the '76 olympics. Under the current rules, you have to be at least 16. The younger athletes are generally more athletic, but not as artisic as the older ones. The judging standards have also changed quite a bit over the years.

What Nadia did is amazing, but it's not easy to compare it to the current athletes.

You can't compare the way they judged sports back then with now. No way would an athlete get 7 perfect 10's in today's games. The judges are much more critical and the competition is far greater now than before.

It's basically impossible for current gymnasts to get a 10 under today's rules.

If you watched Carly Patterson win the gold medal in the woman's all-around competition you would see why. She had an amazing floor routine which WAY better than any of the others and she only got a 9.714 or something.

Her routine on the uneven bars was also the best of the bunch and it only got a 9.750.

It was only attainable because the gymnasts were under less scrutiny than they are today.

I'm not a gymnastics fan, and even I saw flaws in her performance. They were minor, but noticeable, and therefore not worthy of a 10. I would like to see Comaneci's performance, to see how flawless her's was.
