I broke my arm two days ago when my bike tripped over a rock.
The doctor said I broke my upper arm (the area close to the shoulder) and that it will take 6-8 weeks before I can remove my cast.

Anyways, I just want to konw, after my arm recovers, is it more prone to injury anc/or fractures? I broke my right arm and I am right handed so is kinda important for me to make a fully recovery..

Not really. Bone after it heals is actually stronger than before. (I'm assuming there was no other muscle/tendon/rotator cuff damage)

If you're young (like I am and like I was when I broke my bones), your bones will grow back stronger than they were before.

Although that's true to some extent, for the first two weeks your arm will be very weak and thin, due to no muscular activity. Just take extra precaution ... I wouldn't ride a bike for at least a month after removing a cast.

/me has fractured two wrists, finger, pinky toe, and elbow (that was the bad one).

I broke my arm when I was 12 or 13. I've never really been concerned about reinjuring the arm, but I can't bend it in as far as I can my other arm. It doesn't really affect anything, just a minor irritant. I can close to around a 35-40 degree angle, whereas the other arm closes to around 15-20 degrees.

Yeah, he'll have to go through PT for a while before even thinking about riding again.

I've broken Rt femur, left tibia, left humerus (the bone you broke) & 7 ribs...

They actually grow back stronger, after it heals, if the bone breaks again, it'll break above or below the repaired area.

Lucky b*stard,, I'll bet you got a fiberglass cast, I had the plaster monsters:(

Note to self, get that plate taken out of my arm, so I can take martial arts.

I had frankenstein pins going into my elbow.
It was really cool seeing them being pulled out. :p

Well i don't know it it's more prone to breaking afterwards but I have broken my wrist before and it aches every now and then even long after healing.

I cracked my left humerus about ten years ago, it still aches fairly frequently if I sleep with it in a weird position.

I broke my left wrist and right arm about twenty eight years ago in college. At times, when the barometric pressure suddenly changes, I can sometimes feel a slight discomfort where the bones broke in the past.

Wait until you get older and you will know why...

My arm is definately stronger where I broke it, since they replaced the bone that used to be there with titanium. I am the Bionic Man ;)

I SAY AGAIN, your bike has legs?

PWN3D!

To say something worthwhile... I believe bones do come back stronger. Assuming it was the bone and nothing else. I fractured my right wrist and broke my left arm. Not fun.
