I hate the small knurled metal ones that are short and need needle nose pliers especially in tight groups like KVMs.. but we have to tighten them because at some point the less technically inclined are going to move something and we would get a support call about one monitor not working.

two to three turns would prevent that.

sometimes its just from the cable getting pulled cockeyed from not being properly "hand-tight" to begin with. wiggling the connector down further helps sometimes.

Even my hdmi connectors have a screw to secure them in place. It's probably just apple that doesn't care anymore.

And manufacturers of TVs and consumer electronics, apparently; none of the HDMI devices in my house have screw holes.

Hdmi is enormous? Erm, ok.

Just because something has screws to secure it, doesn't mean you have to use them at all. Some of us just don't want to worry about something vibrating loose at the wrong moment.

Now I'm curious - how do you keep your USB cables from jiggling loose from these vibrations?

Yes. ;)

Hence my amazement that the odd converter setup and crappy resolution are the best that we could do.

But, I think only about 10% the population can tell the difference between a widescreen LCD running native resolution and one running a stretched low-res 4:3 aspect ratio.

(Or this: I even offered to fix the aspect ratio setting on one person's PC - he asked me to change it back to the stretched 4:3 because that's what he was used to seeing. o_O)

People always knock the cables out of their systems, I spin those screws with the wrath of god, because I really dont feel like going out to diagnose a "dead system" only to find out the cable is unplugged.
