This is such a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate it when your driving around on basically any road that isn't a highway and the people approaching or following you have their high beams on, and don't turn them off. Is it really that hard to flick the little lever and turn them off? My eyes are kinda sensitive to bright lights, and high beams practically blind me. Urgh....soo annoying.

When they are on the opposite side I flash them a million times until they get the message.
If they are behind me I try and get out of the way and put the darkened mirror on. I also hate people with misaligned headlights.

The only time HiBeam is legal is during the day time (for motorcycles and cars) and on empty country roads and highways and roads (but you got to go down to low beam if there is another car anywhere in view).

I really ahte that too. My eyes are also very sensitive. I also hate those who use highbeams themselves to say get someone to move lanes but won't move themselves when they're highbeamed.

i give them the benefit of the doubt by flashing my high beams at them to get them to turn them off.

failing that, i just leave them on and drive very slowly so they see them for a long time.

Yea the flickery ones are annoying too...and the luxury cars that come with extra bright lights are even worse, cuz they can't turn them off like you can high beams.

Yeah, but they point down at the ground. Big difference.

I hardly ever see people with high beams left on. It's just the ones who have the mis-aligned regular beams (that work as high beams) that piss me off. Even SUVs don't shine it up that high. No, they don't.

Here in Ontario it is illegal to drive within the city proper with highbeams on, day or night. DTRL are just highbeams running at reduced brightness.

Here's an idea for dealing with those drivers that come up behind you with their highbeams on and annoy you big time. Bring a halogen (or xenon) flash light with you and aim it at the driver behind you for a few seconds. That should get the message across very quickly. ***warning this is illegal***

An alternative could be to install a single bright reverse (backup) light switched on the dash. This will accomplish the same thing.

Maybe it's not high beam. Some of those expensive cars have those HID light.

it's called HID (High Intensity Discharge). They are found on most luxury cars and some "ricers" are retro-fitting their cars to an HID conversion. The lights appear to be a blue from an angle, but are actually a very pure white.

I heard that it's a gang thing.
They drive around with their highbeams on. If you flash you lights at them, they follow you home and kill you.

HIDs aren't bright! they do point down, and yes i do hate people with highbeams on. That's why you get a wider rear view mirror :D and tint your side mirrors

I keep thinking there are people driving around with high beams on at night, and it turns out they're all just trucks and SUVs with normal beams on, but the difference in elevation pretty much just puts their beam in my face. As if I needed another reason to hate SUVs.

I hate people who use "your" when they should have used "you're."

What about those people who drive w/ their parking lights on after dusk so as to conserve electricity or something?

Or sometimes they drive around w/ 'em because they don't realize their lights aren't on. Those people are idiots.

<-- Been an idiot myself on at least one occasion.

I don't like drivers that don't turn on their lights during heavy rain or rather dark (very cloudy day). I think headlights are not just to see where you're going but to tell other drivers where you are when visibility is poor. It's practical common sense. You are not saving gas by not turning your lights when driving at 6am or wait to turn on your lights until it's really dark in the evening.

remember a few years ago...
there were some gangs that would drive around without their headlights on at night...
and if someone flashes them... they'd go mug them?

those were the days. :D

I usually fire my high-beams at them. I figure it's better if both of us are blind than just one of us :D

Actually, this doesn't bother me that much, and I've done it myself a few times since I live in an area where we don't really need high beams but my gf does so when I go there suddenly I need them and I occasionally forget to turn them off.
