Driving to work this morning, a huge sheet of ice blew off the top of a Ford Explorer and slammed into my windshield. Luckily nothing happened, but I was totally blind for a few moments. It should be a moving violation.

Mount some blow dryers on the hood of your car so it melts the ice before it hits.

It is. I had the same thing happen to me and I happened to be going to the same gas station as the woman who was driving the other car. I calmly told her to remove the ice from the top of her car before driving and she completely flipped out on me. Idiots are idiots, there's nothing you can do about it.

Idiots around here carve out a little hole in the snow/ice to see through the windshield and drive. Cops should be allowed to stop them, impound their car and rip up their license right there when they catch them doing this.

flamethrowers would be more efficient.

Efficient at melting ice: yes.
Consuming fuel: no.

I think an auto-targeting laser would fit the bill nicely, if you could afford the initial cost.

I'm personally fond of Semi trailers that jettison off a 20' sheet of frozen doom while they are cruizing down the interstate at 65 MPH and all you can do is watch it float through the air and hope it doesn't smite you in the process.

There is a 0 percent chance that I'll scrape the top of my car. Call me an asshole, but I'm just not doing it.

Yeah, I don't scrape mine either.

But unless you're literally diving a go kart, nothing is going to hit your car.

It's great too when they don't clear the thick coating of snow from their headlights.

"OMG, why's it so dark out tonight?"

What do you expect people to do? Scrape the ice off their entire car before they leave for work?

That's a tad unrealistic don't you think?

You guys are both inconsiderate fools.

I drive an Acura TL and got hit. It's not a go cart.

Unless you're coming over to my house to set up the step ladder and scraper brush extension pole, there is no way I'm cleaning the snow and ice off the roof of my van.

 It's the law in many states to clear the roof of your vehicle so that flying snow and ice doesn't cause an accident.

Yes, I do. Wake up 10 minutes earlier. Unrealistic? I don't know, I managed to do it this morning.

I actually move all the snow from my windshield onto the top of my car, then spritz it with some water and let it freeze before I go out. All this in the hopes it'll all fly off in one, big sheet and hit your car while I watch in my rear-view mirror.
