Interesting. I was planning on getting the PC version, but if the PS3 version comes with a free copy I might as well get it instead.

That's what I'm thinking. I assume it'll be $10 more, but that's not bad to be able to play on 2 systems.

I'll be skeptical until they disclose what linking your psn and steam accounts entails.

Me too. Nothing is free. What might we be giving up in exchange? Steam has been known to ban accounts. If your account is banned from Steam, will it affect your PSN account too?

I'm guessing that the PS3 copy will come with a cd key to activate on Steam as well.

if Steam really is coming to PS3 and is going to be identical across platforms don't count on a free copy for PC in the sense that you're going to get a second copy and thus could play with someone else at the same time.

This is just like saying if you buy Portal 2 for PC you get a free copy to install on every other PC or Mac you own. You could certainly play single player in offline mode on each but you won't be able to play multiplayer.

if that was the case no one would buy the pc version...obivously it won't just be a free copy that you can do what you please with.

This is relevant to my interests...:hmm:

No desire to play this on the PS3, so unless it is a truly free copy of tyhe PC game, then I'll skip that deal and just get the PC version.

So, they have found a way to get $10 dollars out of PC gamers that use their PS3s as Bluray / HTPCs...

I was just going to grab it off of steam, but for $10 more, I'd probably get it on the PS3 as well. Might be interesting to play two copies at once on the ps3 and pc with a friend (if that's possible) in the same room.

I think you are wrong. The way it sounds, Steam is basically on the PS3 now, so you'll probably have to tie your PS3 copy to a Steam account. After you've tied the PS3 copy to your steam account, Steam will probably just automatically add it to your library and have it available for download on PC.

I really doubt that they'll just give you a key because then they would have tons of people doing what everyone in this thread already wants to do. They would go out and buy the PS3 copy and then either sell the PC copy or sell the PS3 copy for cheap to a friend or something. If they make you log into a Steam account, you could maybe still sell the extra, but the person that you sell the PS3 copy to would have to log into your steam account and wouldn't be able to play online while you were.
